India Visa Application

All foreign nationals entering India are required to possess a valid international travel document in the form of a national passport with a valid visa obtained from an Indian Mission or Post abroad.

When applying for an Indian Visa, you’ll need to complete an on-line application form, then print and sign. With all necessary document, you can either apply in person or by mail. Unless specifically asked for, you should submit the photocopies of supporting documents. You should not send original documents because noone can responsible for them.

In order to submit in person, you should visit nearest application center, embassy or consulate, make sure you have a call to confirm time hours and make appointment if necessary.

 

Applicants must apply for visas at least 30 days in advance of the intended date of travel

General requirements for an Indian Visa

  • Passport valid at least for one year with at least one blank page for visa
  • Visa application form (one copy) duly completed and signed by the applicant. Applications with incomplete forms in any respect are likely to be rejected by the Embassy. Click here to download visa form
  • ONE colour passport size photograph full frontal view to be pasted on the application form.

 

Note:

  • Handwriten forms or downloaded fillable forms are not accecptable
  • Name and other relevant information should be filled in as per details in passport in expanded form.
  • Incomplete or illegible applications will not be precessed.
  • Please review the Sample India Visa Application Form for guidance in filling the actual online form.
  • The completed form should be printed on two separate sheets to paper. Back and front (two sided print out) will not be accepted.
  • The address for the conference in India must be completed with the phone number, city, sector, street and six digit pin code. In case you are staying in a hotel, please write the complete address and phone number of the hotel as it appears on the website.

Visa Fees

The following prices are for UK nationals only; prices for other nationals vary.

Tourist Visa:
Up to six months/Single entry £30
One year (maximum stay of 180 days per visit) £50
More than 1 year tourist visa valid for a maximum stay of 180 days per visit £90

Business visa:
Up to six months/Single entry £105
One year (maximum stay of 180 days per visit) £160
24 month multiple entry £160

Entry Visa:
Up to six months £55

Student Visa:
Up to five years £55

Transit Visa:
Maximum 15 days stay with 3 months validity £8

Personal cheques will not be accepted. Visa fees are non-refundable and subject to change without notice.

Validity

India visa validity varies depending on types of visa:

Tourist: 6 months to over 1 year from date of issue;

Business: up to 2 years; Transit: normally 15 days, valid for 3 months from date of issue;

Long-term: up to 5 years, although individual visits are not expected to exceed 6 months.

The visa validity duration begins on the first day of issurance. Therefore, a six month visa issued on July 1 would be valid until December 31.
